POLICIES
FOR SCIENCE CLASS
1.
Materials
needed everyday for class
a)
Class
notebook with the following:
i)
1
½ inch three ringed binder
ii)
ten
sheets of blank paper
iii)
six
pockets
iv)
plastic
zipper case (optional)
b)
Two
working pens and two working pencils
c)
The
text book
2.
Tardiness
a)
Tardiness
will not be tolerated!
b)
Any
student who is tardy will be Subject to the school policy for being tardy.
c)
The
only acceptable reason for being tardy is if a teacher or an administrator
keeps you from getting to class on time.
You must, of course, have a note from that teacher or administrator
3.
Absences
a)
You are
responsible for all work and assignments missed during your absence.
b)
The
teacher will not come to you to give you your missed work and assignments
c)
It
is your responsibility to go to a classmate to find out what you missed
d)
The
teacher will not remind you that you have missed work
e)
You
may wish to confirm with the teacher what your classmate told you regarding
your missed assignments
f)
The
teacher will never ask you for your missed work
g)
If
you know you are going to be absent ahead of time be sure to get the
assignments from the website
h)
If
your absence is excused the policy of the school will guide you as to how much
time you have to turn in your work. Be
sure to consult your student handbook.
4.
Grading
a)
You are
expected to turn in every assignment given in this class and you are expected
to turn them in on time
b)
Every
student in this class must complete every assignment. There are no
exceptions!
c)
An
assignment turned in on time will be given all the credit possible
d)
An
assignment turned in late on the due date will have a negative 10% added to the
earned grade. An assignment turned in
the next day or the day after than will have a negative 30% added to their
score
e)
Late
work will not be accepted after the second day from the due date.
f)
Work
turned in early will have a positive 30% added to their grade.N.B.
g)
All
work that is due within a grading period is due by 3:30 of the last day of that
grading period.
h)
Extra
credit to replace a low grade cannot be accepted until the assignment with the
low grade is turned in with an earned grade of 85% or more
i)
The
students are expected to take primary responsibility for their own grade. The teacher cannot ever guarantee that the
grade he has for you is correct. If the
teacher’s grade and the student’s grade do not agree the burden of proof is on
the student to show the teacher’s error.
To help the student keep up with their grades the teacher may supply the
student with a ‘Grade Record Sheet’. If the teacher does not supply this record
sheet you can download one from his website.
It is up to the student to keep this record up to date and accurate. N.B.

Daily Work………………….55%
Major tests and labs ………...25%
Six Weeks Test ……………..20%

The
process for calculating your grade at any given time is found on the ‘Grade
Record Sheet’.
l)
Since
you are responsible for your grade, the teacher will never tell you your grade.
However the teacher will be glad to confirm your calculation.
m)
Students
are encouraged to take advantage of “Family Access”. If the grade on family access does not agree with your calculated
grade be sure to have the correct grade calculated before you bring this to the
teacher’s attention. If family access
shows that a grade is missing you may bring this to the teacher’s attention;
just be sure to have the missing paper with you.
