  2. Absences:
    1. You are responsible for doing the work that was assigned during your absence.
    2. The teacher will never come to you and give you the assignments you missed. These assignments are always available to you on the teacher’s web site (www.mryoungphysics.com)
    3. The teacher will never remind you that you have missing homework, in class assignments, pop tests, 3mQs or major tests. Notice of all of these assignments are always available to you on the teacher’s web site (www.mryoungphysics.com)
    4. The teacher will never ask you for the work due during your absence. Those assignments are always available to you on the teacher’s web site (www.mryoungphysics.com)
    5. If you know that you are going to be absent ahead of time consult the on-line syllabus for the work you will miss while you are gone. The on-line syllabus is available here: www.mryoungphysics.com
    6. If your absence is excused the absent policy for the school will guide you as to how much time you have to turn in your work. Consult your Student Handbook
  3. Grading
    1. You are expected to turn in every assignment given to you in this class and you are expected to turn in the assignments on time.
    2. Every student is expected to turn in every assignment.
    3. Assignments turned in on time will be given all the credit possible
    4. Assignments turned in late:

                                                              i.      An assignment that is turned in late on the day that it is called for will have a negative 10% of the earned grade added to the earned grade.

ii.      An assignment is late if it is not turned in at the time it is asked for. That is to say that if you do not pass your assignment to the front at the time the assignment is called for, that assignment is late.

iii.      An assignment that is late the next day after it is called for will have a negative 30% of the earned grade added to the earned grade.

iv.      An assignment cannot be more than one day late. In other words an assignment will not be accepted if it is turned in the second day after its due date

    1. Assignments turned in early:

                                                              i.      Work that is turned in early will have a +30% of the earned grade added to the earned grade.

ii.      An assignment is early if it is turned in a minimum of one day before it is due.

iii.      An assignment is not early if it is turned in at any time on the day that it is due

iv.      An assignment may become early if it is turned in on its due date but not called for on that day

    1. All work that is due within a grading period is due before 3:30 of the last day of the six weeks
    2. Extra credit to replace a low grade cannot be accepted until the assignment with the low grade is turned in with an earned grade of 90% or more. You will find the directions for doing Extra credit here: ftp://mryoungphysics.com/extracredit.htm
    3. Keeping track of your grade:

                                                              i.      Students are expected to take primary responsibility for their own grade.

ii.      The teacher cannot ever guarantee that the grade in skyward is correct.

iii.      If the skyward grade and the student’s grade do not agree the burden of proof is on the student to show the teacher’s error.

iv.      To help the student keep up with their grades the teacher may supply the student with a ‘Grade Record Sheet’. If the teacher does not supply this record sheet you can download one from the website: http://www.mryoungphysics.com/6WGRS.htm

  1. The assignments for this class weigh in as follows

Daily Work………………….50%

Major tests and labs ………...30%

Six Weeks Test ……………..20%

    1. The process for calculating your grade at any given time is found on the ‘Grade Record Sheet’.
    2. Since you are responsible for your grade, the teacher will never tell you your grade. However the teacher will be glad to confirm your calculation.
    3. Students are encouraged to take advantage of “Family Access”.  If the grade on family access does not agree with your calculated grade be sure to have the correct grade calculated before you bring this to the teacher’s attention.  If family access shows that a grade is missing you may bring this to the teacher’s attention; just be sure to have the missing paper with you.
